Quiz Night

The George, Eton

9th June

Join us for another Windsor Theatre Guild Quiz Night, with a mixture of "Name that Tune", Picture Rounds, General Knowledge that will tax the brain, but only slightly.

You don't have to have an in-depth knowledge of the history of the Guild or theatre, the arts but you may need to warm up your vocals for the inevitable sing-along that follows on from naming that tune.

We've booked our own space for fun and frivolity, courtesy of those lovely people at The George in Eton so don't hesitate, book your place now!

Acting Workshops

Would you like to learn how to optimise your vocal range and how to create character?

Or develop techniques to interpret scripts and unlock Shakespeare’s speeches?

Join Windsor Theatre Guild’s course of workshops lead by stage and TV actor Miranda Bell. This four-week series is designed to help you build a toolbox of skills and techniques that will enrich and strengthen your experience of acting. You can sign up for the full course or choose individual workshops to suit your personal development path.

4th May : BUILDING A CHARACTER.
We explore different ways to build a character and enjoy discovering the many characters within us. We will create short scenes together to explore how our characters might behave in various circumstances and how they react to others.

11th May : APPROACHES TO TEXT AND WORKING ON A SCRIPT
A new script is like a wonderful puzzle full of clues the author has left for you to follow. We  look at ways to find and use those clues, using a variety of exercises and a range of scripts. We also look at techniques to help avoid some common acting traps.

18th May : THE VOICE – UNLOCKING ITS POTENTIAL
Our voices are as unique to each of us as our fingerprints. In this session we look at techniques to develop flexibility, agility, range and resonance, then work on texts that will encourage us to explore and enjoy our voices more fully.

25th May : ACTING IN SHAKESPEARE
We examine some of Shakespeare’s great speeches, looking at how to unlock the meaning and find the thoughts behind them, and how to use the meter to help us voice the verse to discover the pleasure and challenges of speaking his wonderful language. You will have the chance to work on part of a speech and perform it.
